School To Dismiss May 19th
Dimissal Date Moved To Earlier Date
April 08, 2009
In just a little over five weeks, the Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools will bring the 2008-09 school term to a close. School will dismiss for students on Tuesday, May 19th this year. That is three days ahead of the planned May 22nd dismissal. The earlier dismissal is a result of the school district losing only two school days to inclement weather in 2008-09. Although it may have seemed like a long and cold winter to many, the lack of significant snow storms minimized the lost school time.
School is scheduled for all day on May 19th and a regular dismissal time is planned. Staff members will still be on the job for two more days but will be leaving for summer break on May 21st. Students and staff will be out in advance of the Memorial Day weekend.
Many activities are still planned over the next few weeks. Prom is scheduled for April 18th. The Annual Foundation Honors Dinner is set for April 24th. The high school is planning a school musical on April 30th and May 1st. The Ashland Ministerial Association has planned Baccalaureate Services in the community for May 15th and the school will sponsor Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2009 on Saturday, May 16th.
