3-D Drawing Adventure
February 10, 2010
On Thursday, February 4th, the second through sixth grade students were visited by artist, Mark Kistler. Mark Kistler has starred in many television series such as The Secret City, The Draw Squad, The New Secret City Adventures, and his most recent, Mark Kistler's Imagination Station which airs on PBS. Mark has also written and illustrated many popular children's drawing books.
Mr. Kistler held two assemblies with Elementary students. During these assemblies students were encouraged to draw along with Mr. Kistler as they created new and exciting worlds. Students created robots, pyramids, fish, marshmallow worlds and more. At the end of the assemblies, the students were encouraged to go home and do their “Yeah” work and continue to “draw, draw, draw” and create stories to go along with their pictures. The students were very excited and encouraged by Mr. Kistler and many of them have continued to work on their drawings at home.
The visit by Mark Kistler was funded through the Ashland Greenwood Foundations Grant and the PTO. The PTO also donated an autographed Mark Kistler book to the elementary school library. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this visit possible.
