New Class for AGPS 8th Grade Students

Introduction to Lap-tops

January 20, 2010

Ashland-Greenwood 8th grade students are participating in a new class this year.  Introduction to lap-tops was implemented to further enhance technology literacy skills for students.

Mr. Flynn, technology integration specialist, teaches the class.  He noted that this class "really will give our students a jump-start next year as they transition to 9th grade where they will each be issued a lap-top".

Not only are students learning about how to properly care for and use the lap-tops, they are also being introduced to a variety of software applications.  "The students are really enjoying the class and are teaching me some things as well," Flynn said.

Schools in Nebraska are also accountable for ensuring 8th grade students have the opportunity to master many technology literacy skills.  Mr. Flynn is able to help students build on skills introduced to them in earlier grades and then provide further instruction on more challenging aspects of technology literacy.
