AcaDeca Team Competes Well At Regionals

January 22, 2010

The Ashland-Greenwood Academic Decathlon team finished its year at the Regional Competition on Saturday, January 16, at Nebraska Wesleyan.  Several team members earned medals for their efforts in one or more of the Academic Decathlon categories.  Earlier in the year, students participated in scrimmages at Creighton Prep and Lincoln Northeast.

The Academic Decathlon is a scholastic competition made up of several parts.  Team members are tested on their knowledge and skill in Math, Music, Language Arts, Art, Science, and Economics.  In addition, the “Super Quiz” portion changes each year with the theme set by the United States Academic Decathlon Board.  This year’s theme was the French Revolution.  Students are placed into three categories – Honors, Scholastic, and Varsity – based on their cumulative GPA.

This year’s Academic Decathlon team members are Ivee Bills, Bobby Fricke, Nick Johnson, Jennifer Klaudt, Georgia Lewin, Ellie Luebbe, Hannah Luebbe, Zach Lusienski, Nick Pease, Devon Rezac, Anna Spears, Silas Voss, and Kylie Washburn.
