January 28, 2010
A total of 36 Sophomores and Juniors from AGHS attended the SENCAP Career Fair at SCC-Lincoln on January 27, 2010. It was an opportunity for students to learn more about careers in the following areas: Health, Education, Business and Industrial Manufacturing and to introduce students to the SENCAP Career Partnership with SCC. Here are some comments by the students that attended the career fair:
Neal Wilson (11th) Industrial Manufacturing: "I liked it a lot, it was beneficial for me. It made my mind up on what I want to do and I will attend SCC for their welding program."
Daryl Clark (10th) Health: "It was very informative, it helped me understand the different medical fields. Never thought I would would want to go into dentistry and this has now has become a possibility after attending the career fair. It really didn't help me make a decision of what health career to pursue, but has opened my mind to new ideas, this was a great experience."
Kelli Hohensee (10th) Education: "I thought it was really helpful. It helped me see the different areas of the education fields and made me start thinking about my plans for the future."
Emily Rohrbough (10th) Business: "I knew a lot of what was going on because of my business classes I have taken. It opened a door to network with the entrepreneurship presenter, the presenter said I could e-mail my business plan to him and he would look it over for a class I am taking. It was a good eye opener to what the real world is."
SENCAP stands for the Southeast Nebraska Career Academy Program. The Ashland-Greenwood High School is a member of SENCAP. The program offers career planning and career transition courses to high schools in the southeast Nebraska region.
