Gordy the Groundhog Visits School

Mrs. Lesa Cameron and Gordy the groundhog visited the first grade classrooms on Groundhog Day. The first graders learned how groundhogs hibernate and that their homes, or burrows, have several rooms. Mrs. Cameron also explained that Groundhog Day started out as a celebration when winter was half over.
Mrs. Cameron makes yearly visits to the elementary school to share information about groundhogs and Groundhog Day. Each grade level learns something different about this unusual animal and holiday.
While many of us are ready for winter to be over, the groundhog did see his shadow. Be prepared for another six weeks of winter weather!
