Celebrating our Young Authors

Elementary students participated in the Young Authors Program during third quarter. The program is designed to celebrate and support student writing. Students were encouraged to submit a piece of writing, a story, or poem to their teacher. Each classroom then selected one student’s story or poem to represent their room. These twenty-one young students were honored at a Young Authors Celebration on Thursday, February 25th. Three of these students were also selected as building winners and will have their stories published in the Ashland Gazette. These three students are Grace Ruyle, Riddock Moran and Ethan Percival.
During the celebration, Teresa Livers, who writes articles for the Ashland Gazette and established the "Bluejay Banner", spoke with the students about how she came to write for the newspaper. The students also enjoyed a snack and shared their stories. Congratulations to our young authors!
