High School Students Visit Kindergartners
January 16, 2012
Think about your favorite children’s book. What was it called? Why do you remember it? These were some of the questions answered in Mrs. Koesters’ Composition classes this past December as her students prepared, composed, and created children’s books for the Ashland-Greenwood kindergartners.
December 20, 2011 marked the third year Mrs. Koesters’ composition students have created children’s books and shared them with the elementary. The high school students have begun asking this year when they get to go see the kids at the elementary. “I realized I want to work with kids by teaching band or music even more now,” stated Crissie P. Not only do the students get a one to one or one to two ratio experiences with reading, but they also play educational games led by the older students.
The students and Mrs. Koesters appreciate the kindergarten teachers setting aside an hour each December for some cooperative learning and fun. This annual event seems to be a win- win situation for all involved. Mrs. Koesters will be looking forward to this December and more memories created.
