Rose Theater Visits Elementary
Rose Theater’s drama team came in with gusto for two educational activities for the 3rd through 5th grade students at Ashland-Greenwood Elementary School. The afternoon began with a workshop in the media center refining the acting techniques of our REACH students. Playwright, actor and educator, Brian Guehring, encouraged the students to develop the characters they play with facial expressions and body movements. He ended the session by demonstrating how actors and actresses use their diaphragms to help their voices project and stay strong as they practice and perform.
Secondly, the Rose staff presented “The Bully Show” to all 3rd - 5th graders to teach students to respect and stand up for others. “The Bully Show” challenged the audience to reconsider their assumptions about bullies, victims, and spectators and realize the importance of tolerating the differences of others. Many thanks goes to the Ashland-Greenwood Foundation for making this opportunity possible. The program was educational, enjoyable and another way to promote the Bluejay Way of being responsible, respectful and safe!
