Academic Decathlon is an international competition with more teams worldwide joining each year. In Nebraska, 12 large schools, 6 medium schools, 11 small schools, and 12 very small schools compete in the areas of art, music, mathematics, economics, science, and literature. There is also a quiz bowl. At the state level, an essay, speech, and interview are added to complete the 10 areas of competition. Ashland-Greenwood competes against 10 other schools in the small school division but is combined with the 12 very small schools to qualify for state.
State competition this year will be held at Bellevue University on February 16th and 17th. The team is coached by Jonathan Jaworski and Janice Jacobs.
