2019 ASHLAND-GREENWOOD GIRLS' TRACK & FIELD SEASON LOOKS BRIGHT
2019 AG Girls Track & Field
We’re happy to have our highest number of girls participating in track and field this season as 28 girls are out this year. It’s exciting to have that number as that encourages competition across the board which will only make us better.
We have a very good dynamic of athletes this year that range from many different years of experience. We have five senior girls out this year. (Sasha Checkulaieva, Gabby Hill, Haley Lyons, Michaela Pluta, and Becca Wilson). We’re counting on these girls to provide leadership for many of our younger athletes.
We also return and lot of talent and strong competitors that we’ll be counting on to lead us through this season. We have two returning State Meet qualifiers in Hannah Hatzenbuehler and Jaiden Tweton.
Hannah qualified in the 300 hurdles last season as she placed 8th at the State Meet. She ran her best time of 48.03 at Districts last year, good enough for second place. She’s set high goals for herself this year and we’re excited to see her potential.
Jaiden qualified in two events. The 800m run and the 1600m run. Last year, Jaiden set a new school record in the 800 with a time of 2:22.98. She ran that at Districts against a very strong field. She also has high goals for herself and we know both girls are going to work hard to achieve them.
We once again will have an extremely tough district as we go to Beatrice High this year. I know the girls are looking forward to the season as hopefully we’ll be able to get outside soon.
