LOOK FOR A BOOK
Look 4 a Book ….. Near you!
By Trinity Rowley- AG FFA Reporter
“Look 4 a Book” was an idea presented by Ms. Estrela. She saw the concept on Facebook. It is a big movement in Yorkshire England and we thought it would go over well here. We partnered with the FBLA program and Mrs. Dutcher. Our organizations have hidden 160 books in three different locations two in Ashland, and one in Greenwood. The books were placed in the playground area at the elementary, Wiggenhorn Park, and Greenwood’s park.
For those who are wondering what “Look for a Book” is, it is for young children ages 5 through 13 that have the eagerness of wanting to enter a world of fascination by reading new material. These kid’s parents have stories of their kids finding books. One of those parents we talked to is Mrs.Smith, a teacher at Ashland-Greenwood, and she has told us “Olivia found a book and was SUPER excited!”
We have heard a lot of positive feedback from this event and plan to do it again in the late spring before school gets out! In the meantime, books can be donated by dropping them off at the high school with attention to either Ms. Estrela or Mrs. Dutcher. We simply ask that no pages are torn, no drawings/coloring have been done to the book. Thank you!
