The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation selected two recipients for the FFA Advisor of the Year award, and one of those was Ashland-Greenwood FFA  Advisor, AnnaLisa Estrela.  Estrela was honored on April 8th during the 2021 Nebraska FFA Virtual State Convention.  She received a plaque and a $1000 donation to the Ashland-Greenwood FFA chapter.

Ms. Estrela was nominated by her students and chosen based upon her school and community involvement, leadership development in her classroom, and ability to keep her students involved in agriculture.

Ms. Estrela is in her ninth year as the FFA  Advisor at Ashland-Greenwood High School.  In a press release from the Farm Bureau Foundation, it said she ensures each student is able to reach their career goals through their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project.  She places great emphasis on the importance of students growing their life skills while creating opportunities for achievements.  In her community, Estrela is known for her extensive effort that she puts into the community and agricultural education program.

"I am honored to receive this award.  It means a lot to me that the students and community members nominated me, but it is also really comforting to know that agricultural companies are supportive of what agriculture teachers do in their classrooms and with their FFA Chapters."

The mission of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation is to engage youth, educators, and the general public to promote an understanding of the vital importance of agriculture in the lives of all Nebraskans.

Congratulations, Ms. Estrela, on a well-deserved award!
