Mallory N., Samantha M. and Nathan J. place at the Strategic Air and Space Museum Science Fair
Eighteen finalist from the Ashland
Greenwood Science Fair had an exciting day at the Strategic Air and
Space Museum's Science Fair. The students arrived at the
museum around 8:30 A.M. and the first round of judging took place
from 9:15 to 11:30. The students presented the results of
their project using the steps of the scientific method to three
different judges. Before lunch the students got a surprise
visit from Clay Anderson.

Clay visited with each
student about their projects and signed autographs and took
photographs. After lunch the second round of judging took
place and those students who didn't make it to the second round
made airplanes and flew the airplanes in one of the big airplane
hangars. At 1:00 PM the students went into the theater area
and listened to Astronaut Clay Anderson tell about his adventure in
space and watch a video with Clay adding commentary. At
2:00PM Clay presented the awards to the finalist. There
were approximately 120 projects from eight schools from 4-8th
grade. Mallory N. received a certificate and medal for 2nd
place and judges' choice ribbons were presented to Samantha M. and
Nathan J
