Student and Visitor Expectations at School Sporting Events

Please review the following guidelines as a reminder of the expectations for all who attend our home and away events:

General Behavior and Spirit

  • Be positive: Cheer for the Bluejays and help build their confidence.
  • Be loud and unified: Participate in chants and stick together to create a strong atmosphere.
  • Be creative: Participate in theme nights and show school spirit through your outfits.
  • Be respectful: Do not yell at the opposing team or the officials. (This includes during lineup announcements...no back turning or other demonstrations of disrespect).

Student Seating and Organization

  • Follow seniority rules: Seniors are often given priority in the front rows, followed by juniors, sophomores, and freshmen in the back.
  • Middle School Students (grades 6-8) will have a defined ‘student’ section in the gym.
  • Students in grades 5 or younger should sit near their parents and be supervised while attending events.
  • Stay in your designated area: Those not participating in the theme or without seniority should be in the back.
  • Clear walkways: Aisles and walkways must be kept clear for safety and access.

Safety and Prohibited Items

  • Do not throw anything: This includes objects like water bottles, food, or other items.
  • Keep the area clean: Pick up after yourself and dispose of trash properly.
  • Follow food and beverage rules: Outside food and drink are not allowed.

Additional guidelines

  • Show up: A strong student section is a unified one, so encourage participation at ALL of our home events.
  • Be spirited: Make an effort to be spirited and engaged.
  • Students of all ages should be in the gym to watch the game and cheer on the Bluejays!
  • Students in grades 5 or younger should sit near their parents and be supervised while attending events.
  • No outside balls should be brought into the gym/facility by young students or children.
  • No running or playing in the hallways, cafeteria, or other spaces in the building.
  • Students are not allowed to stay after school unsupervised, waiting for any event to begin.
  • The elevator is not to be played on or ridden on by students unless permission is requested. The elevator is for those with mobility challenges.

We all are looking forward to the upcoming Winter Season and want to ensure we all do our best to cultivate a positive environment for our competitors as well as represent our school community in a positive light to all who visit. Thank you and go Jays!
