Students and Teachers Recognized at Annual Foundation Dinner

The annual Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools Foundation proved to be a huge success.  During the evening, two students, Amanda Washburn, and Jackie Kasuske were selected as the Foundation Scholarship Award Winners.  Each student received a $1,000 scholarship.   Kirsten Goff was also recognized by the Foundation.  She received the $500 Foundation Tech Scholarship.

Elementary Teacher Teresa Luers was recognized  for 25 years of services as well as fellow teacher Renee Kucera.    Longtime employee Jo Christenham was also recognized for her years of service as she completes her last year in the district before retiring.

Kristi Bundy received the prestigious Alice Raikes Distinguished Teaching Award.  This year more than 200 pages of applications were received nominating teachers in our district.  The award recognized excellence in teaching and outstanding commitment to Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools.  The award winner receives $1,000 personally and a $1,000 donation to his or her department.

Kim Thomas and Randy Beranek were in attendance and received the Alumni of the Year Awards.
The event marked the second annual silent and live auction.  The Foundation was able to raise over $13,000 in their efforts.  The Foundation mission is for the benefit of or to carry out the purposes of Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools.  Each year the Foundation awards teacher grants that impact our students.  For the 2013-14 school year the Foundation will fund the following:  2 new basketball goals for the elementary playground, 2 google tablets, a MS Courage Retreat which empowers our students to make the right choices, a financial contribution towards an elementary sound system, and sending students to the Plum Creek Literacy Festival in which our students get to meet authors and illustrators.
Thank you for all of your support.
