Message to Families

Dear Bluejay Family Members:

Our first semester of the 2021.2022 school year has recently concluded, and I want to thank you for your support of AGPS! Though we are so looking forward to another great semester, upon returning to school after the holiday break, new information regarding COVID is now available.  Thank you for your patience as district staff used this week to gather information to guide our response.  Our health committee has met; we have consulted with our local health department, and we have reviewed guidance from the CDC.

Due to the availability of vaccination for all school age students and adjustments in CDC isolation guidelines, we will move forward with the following practices as we begin the second semester of the 2021-2022 school year:

  • Continue to require all students and staff to stay home if they are ill

  • COVID-19 positive individuals will isolate at home for a minimum of 5 days from their date of onset of symptoms, or date of test if no symptoms. If the individual’s symptoms have improved with no fever for 24 hours, they may return to school with a required mask for an additional 5 days.  If a student is unable or unwilling to wear a mask, he/she will remain at home for the 10 day isolation period.

  • Masking remains recommended and optional except for those returning following a positive diagnosis as explained above

  • Current notification letters for positive cases and close contacts at the middle/high school level will cease

  • At the elementary level, notification letters will only be sent when more than two cases are identified in a homeroom within a designated time frame

  • AGPS will report positive cases of staff and students to Three Rivers Public Health Department per state statute. A one time a week COVID update will continue to be shared with families and posted on our district web-site.

Guidance documents from the CDC are linked here for your information:

I am appreciative of the respectful partnership we have been able to keep throughout the pandemic, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,Jason Libal

AGPS Superintendent
