Art Students Excel at Conference Art Competition

The 2023 Nebraska Capitol Conference Art Show was held on Wednesday, April 12th in Louisville. Ten art students from each school in the conference were invited to bring their original artworks and participate in a day-long event that included a judged art competition, artist guest speaker, and a make-and-take art project. Students, and community members, also voted on an outstanding student artist from each school.

Ashland-Greenwood students took a total of sixty-four works and were awarded forty-three ribbons in this year’s competition. The students brought home eighteen first place ribbons, nineteen second place ribbons and six third place ribbons.

The awards were as follows:

Andrea Dea - A second place ribbon in Sculpture and a second place in Clay.

Gracey Earnest - One first and one second place ribbon in Sculpture, two first place ribbons in Clay, and a third place in Colored Drawing.

River Edie - A second in Sculpture, a second in Mixed Media, and a second in Watercolor.

Presley Harms - A first place ribbon in Mixed Media, a second place in Colored Drawing, a first in Watercolor, and two second place ribbons in Painting.

Kaylen Jackson - Two third place ribbons in Clay.

Riley Lichtas - A first place in Sculpture, a third place in Colored Drawing, a first place in Watercolor, a second place in Pencil Drawing, and two second place ribbons in Painting.

Erandy Morales Rodriguez - A first place ribbon in Sculpture, a first place in Clay, a first and a third in Mixed Media, and a third place in Black and White Media.

Karma Nachtigall - A first in Sculpture, a first in Clay, and a second in Watercolor.

Alivia Pike - A first place ribbon in Sculpture, a second place ribbon in Clay, a second place in Colored Drawing, a first place in Pencil Drawing, and three second place ribbons in Painting.

Dayna Wilson - A second place ribbon in Mixed Media, a first place in Colored Drawing, a first place in Watercolor, and two first place ribbons in Painting.

Dayna was also voted Outstanding Student Artist for Ashland-Greenwood.
