Message to AGPS Families

Thank you for helping us have a great start to the new school year!

Message to Families:

First, I want to thank you all for your support at the start of this new school year.  Due to the challenges of the pandemic, school and expectations for and at school look a bit different.  We are so pleased with how students, parents, and families have responded to some of those new requirements.  Because of our collective efforts to ensure a safe environment for staff and students, things are going well!

The Three Rivers Public Health Risk Dial is updated each Wednesday.  The dial for Saunders county is reflecting an increase in risk from the previous week (the dial is now within the orange level).  The dial is just one tool used to determine the current level of risk in our county.  We are in constant communication with Three Rivers Public Health officials as they are best able to inform us about the current level of risk within our own community and school.

Though the risk dial for Saunders County may be elevated, that is not reflective of our school community.  Since the school year started, we have yet to have a confirmed positive Covid19 case for a student or a staff member.  We have had and do currently have a few students who are quarantined at home as directed by Three Rivers Public Health. Current quarantined students are as a result of an exposure that occurred outside of school.

At this time, Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools will continue to operate in Tier I.  Three Rivers Public Health officials are supportive of the district remaining in Tier I.  Should Three Rivers Public Health determine there is a high risk within our school community, we may need to transition to Tier II in the future.   Public health officials continue to stress that students and staff wearing masks is one of the most effective measures we can implement to contain the spread of the virus and reduce quarantine time in the event of an exposure to a positive case.

AGPS staff want to remain in school with all of our students!  Your continued help in adhering to the health and safety protocols put in place to support that will be much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Jason Libal
