Raising The Bar for our Ag Program
Launch the media gallery 1 playerAshland-Greenwood's Ag Educator, Ashley Looper, attended this summer's CASE Conference at Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma, and developed a Soybean Curriculum for the classroom through a scholarship from the Nebraska Soybean Board.
Ms. Looper completed a STEM-based CASE (Curriculum for AgriScience Education) training. The CASE Intro to AFNR training provided a curriculum to agricultural education teachers. Through a scholarship provided by the Nebraska FFA Foundation and funded by the Nebraska Soybean Board, Ms. Looper is supplementing this STEM-based curriculum by using soybeans as a model, focus, and method for learning. This fall, Ms. Looper will be implementing this curriculum in their classroom by utilizing soybeans in various segments of the Intro to AFNR CASE curriculum.
Through this curriculum, Ms. Looper will be teaching their students about the process, benefits, and challenges related to the use of soybeans in agriculture.
“Soybeans are a large part of Nebraska Agriculture and they are everywhere around us in our area. It is important for students to understand that they are so important to our everyday lives as well. A couple of the lessons I created help students see how they are an essential ingredient in some of our favorite products.” says Looper.
